Check-In Procedure

Arrival during working hours
Get a visitor card at the reception in Bldg. 33 (8.00 a.m. to 17.45 p.m.)

Arrival outside CERN working hours and on weekends
Ask the guard at entrance Meyrin B (Main Entrance of the Meyrin site) for the visitor card which was applied by the CERN guarantors at the following address: external.visitor@cern.ch.


Check in at the CERN Users' Office upon arrival, you have to come personally and provide :

The appropriate User Forms
The required documents for you and your family

Receive the CERN access card in Bldg. 55-R-003

For your Computer Account and e-mail address
Contact the IT Service Desk by calling 77777 to get a login and temporary password.
Follow the procedure via internet on the account management site :
http://www.cern.ch/account


Attend a safety training, if you are a first-time user, with your CERN login on any computer via :
http://sir.cern.ch

Without CERN login, but your CERN identification No. :
on any computer in Bldg. 55-1-001.


Fill in the Emergency Contacts form
For persons to be notified in case of serious accidents you must provide 2 emergency contacts:
on EDH : https://edh.cern.ch/Document/EC/

Go to the Dosimetry Service (building 55-R-004) (if you will work in controlled radiation areas) to get a Dosimeter and take :

- your CERN access card
- your medical certificate stating that you are allowed to work in the controlled radiation areas.
If you do not have this certificate you will have a personal dosimeter called VCT (Visiteur à Court Terme) which can be used only maximum two consecutive months during the period of one calendar year.
Users who spend more than 50% of their working time at CERN, contract ≥6months, can undertake a medical examination at the CERN Medical Service, in order to be granted access to radioactive zones. Further information: Dosimetry Service
- the completed 'Rules of use' form signed by the recipient of the dosimeter.
