| Arrival Formalities |

All persons entering the CERN site must be in possession of a CERN access cards or a visitor card issued by CERN (chapter Settling in).
The services in charge of the formalities on taking up appointment will give new arrivals the information about formalities for applying for Swiss and French cards, emergency contacts, handling of bank accounts, etc.
Members of the personnel should take the necessary documents and report to Reception in Bldg.33 and will then be directed to the service in charge of their formalities.
Users should take the necessary documents and report to the Users’ Office Bldg 61.
Once the arrival formalities completed, they must report to the Experiment Secretariat or Departmental Secretariat. They will be shown their office, assisted with administrative tasks and introduced to the group leader, colleagues, your work, and to the Department's activities.
Contractors' personnel working on the CERN site or coming to execute a contract must report to the registration service in Bldg. 55, R-003 at the Main Entrance of the Meyrin site.
Access cards and car stickers
New arrivals must go to the Registration Service in Bldg. 55, R-003
in order to obtain a CERN access card. If they come to CERN with their vehicle they must also get a car sticker in Bldg. 55, 1-001. After the first request, they will automatically receive a sticker the following years without having to fill in any forms again, until the end of contract.

Contact the IT Service Desk by calling 77777 to get a login and temporary password.

Induction course
Staff Member and Fellows are given an induction course. This course consists of a short presentation on subjects which aim to facilitate your integration into CERN and the surrounding area.
Medical Examination for Newcomers
Every person employed by CERN has to pass an obligatory medical examination of pre-employment upon arrival. They will receive notification of appointment from the Medical Service by internal mail.
Safety courses for Newcomer
Everyone working on the CERN site must take a safety course on arrival.

Emergency Contacts
For persons to be notified in case of serious accidents you must provide 2 emergency contacts: on EDH : https://edh.cern.ch/Document/EC/
Dosimeter
Go to the Dosimetry Service (building 55-R-004) (if you will work in controlled radiation areas) to get a Dosimeter and take :

your medical certificate stating that you are allowed to work
in the controlled radiation areas.
If you do not have this certificate
you will have a personal dosimeter called VCT (Visiteur à Court
Terme) which can be used only maximum
two consecutive months during
the period of one calendar year.
Users who spend more than 50% of their working time at CERN, contract ≥6months, can undertake a medical examination at the CERN Medical Service, in order to be granted access to radioactive zones. Further information: Dosimetry Service
