| Group ABP - Accelerators
and Beam Physics |
The AB-ABP (Accelerators and Beam Physics) group is in charge of beam physics issues over the complete CERN accelerator chain from the sources to the LHC, including the organisation of machine developments and contribution to operation supervision.
It provides technical management and support for accelerators and transfer lines, from the source to the SPS exit, including LEIR, AD and its experimental area and ISOLDE. |

BI - Beam Instrumentation |
| This
group designs, builds, maintains and improves the diagnostics
instruments that allow the observation of the particle
beams and collision parameters of all CERN accelerators
and transport lines with the precision required to
diagnose, tune, operate and improve the installations. |
| Group CO - Controls |
| This
group is responsible for the specification, design, procurement, integration, installation, commissioning and operation of the controls infrastructure for all CERN Accelerators, their transfer lines and the Experimental Areas. Support is also provided to the technical infrastructure services that rely on standard controls facilities provided by the group. |
| Group OP - Operation |
This group is responsible
for the operation of all CERN present and future Accelerators
and their associated Experimental Areas.
During periods of operation the group is responsible for the safety and access in the installations. In addition, the groups’ responsibility covers the launch, supervision and co-ordination of interventions on the technical infrastructure. |

| Engineering Department (EN) |
| HDO Group |
| The HDO group comprises staff responsible for Departmental-wide tasks, such as DPO and DSO. It hosts the EN coordinator for the CLIC studies. As a senior engineer the EN CLIC coordinator is directly involved in technical studies related to the stabilization and final focusing issues of CLIC and will supervise a limited number of fellows. |

Operation, maintenance
and improvement of the existing cooling systems, pumping
stations, air conditioning installations and fluid
distribution systems for the PS, SPS and LHC machines
as well as experimental areas and the Computer Centre.
Completion of the design and construction work of
cooling, ventilation and fluid distribution systems
the LHC project, including new experimental areas
(ATLAS, CMS, ALICE etc.). Adaptation of the cooling
and ventilation systems of the PS, SPS, BOOSTER and
LHC.

| Electrical Engineering EL |
Operate, maintain, extend and renovate the network, analyse and make projections for CERN electrical energy consumption and manage relations with the energy suppliers.
The group is also in charge of making modifications and extensions to the network as required by new projects, in terms of project studies, equipment procurement, installation, supervision and commissioning.

Provide transport and handling services for the technical infrastructure of CERN, accelerators and experiments. This includes the design, the tendering/procurement, the installation, the commissioning, the operation, the maintenance and decommissioning of standard industrial and custom built transport and handling equipment.

| The Controls Group in the Engineering Department develops solutions and provides support in the domain of large and medium scale industrial control systems as well as laboratory control systems and promotes their use. The support covers the experiments, the technical infrastructure systems as well as the accelerator systems.

| Machines and Experimental Facilities MEF |
| The Group is responsible for planning and coordinating all maintenance and installation activities in the CERN Accelerator Complex, providing support to the experiments using the CERN accelerators, during their preparation, integration, installation and operation, and for the design installation and maintenance of the secondary beam zones. |
| Mechanical and Materials Engineering |
The mandate of the MME group is to provide to the CERN community specific engineering solutions combining mechanical design, production facilities and material sciences. This group owns, maintains and develops know-how on the mechanical construction of beam accelerators and physics detectors.
MME involves a large spectrum of highly specialized activities like : mechanical calculations, metallurgical analysis, destructive and non destructive material testing, micrometric 3D metrology, mechanical dynamic and static measurements, precision CNC machining, all welding and vacuum brazing techniques and sheet metal forming. |
| Source Targets and Interactions Group STI |
| Study of beam interactions with matter, aiming to apply its know-how to particle generation and to particle interception. The Group is in charge of the conceptual design, production, operation and maintenance of devices in the LHC injectors and the LHC machine (sources, targets, collimators, dumps etc…) as well as in the secondary beams. |

| The ASE group provides the Organization's systems for personnel safety and access control. The group procures and supports the Organization's engineering, equipment data management tools and mechanical CAD systems. | The group provides and maintains the sites, buildings and underground civil engineering works of the Organization as well as the necessary logistics and stores services. |
| SE
Site Engineering |
The Group is responsible to provide, to maintain in working conditions including their eventual operation and to renovate the civil engineering structures and infrastructures and the technical services for the tertiary and industrial part of the organization. The abovementioned responsibilities include all phases from preliminary design to construction management and hand-over of complete structures and infrastructures. |

Provides central database support for almost
all activities of the laboratory including support for the development, deployment and running of the core administrative applications that make up the Administrative Information Services (AIS).
Infrastructure services required for the database applications in the CERN Accelerator and Technical sector as well as the infrastructure on which CERN's Engineering Data Management Service (EDMS) is run.
Support of a wide range of Engineering software packages including tools for Mechanical, Electronic and Software Design. Support of Math tools, software development and documentation tools. |

The group co-ordinates the WLCG services and assists the experiments in their use of this services and leads the HEP Virtual Research Community activity and Services for Heavy Users. |

| The group supports operating systems (Windows, Linux, MacOS) and a range of services for information exchange, personal and group communications, collaborative work, certification, authentication, all based on the Web and the Internet. |

| The mandate of the PH-DT group comprises development, construction, operation and maintenance of particle detectors for the experiments at CERN. The group clusters common services and infrastructure which are at the benefice of all experiments at CERN, e.g. gas system support, thin film lab, silicon facility with bond lab, irradiation facilities, magnet support, B-field mapping, instrumentation and controls. |

| Accelerator Beam Transfer group (ABT) |
The ABT group is in charge of the design, development, construction, installation, exploitation and maintenance of injection and extraction related equipment
The group also conceives, studies and designs injection and extraction processes and systems in the accelerator complex, and beam transfer lines between accelerators and up to targets. It contributes to operational follow-up of beam transfer systems, and is in charge of the commissioning of the LHC transfer lines, injection and beam dumping systems together with their potential upgrades. |

| Machine Protection and Electrical Integrity group (MPE) |
Support LHC operation and maintain state‐of‐the art technology for magnet circuit protection and interlock systems for the present and future accelerators, magnet test facilities and CERN hosted experiments.
Provide a CERN central service for the layout, industrialization and production of electronics modules either based on industrial standards or fine pitch detector specific technologies. Make available expertise for application specific designs requiring R&D in the domains where CERN is at the forefront. |
| Magnets, Superconductors and Cryostats (MSC) |
Design, construction and measurements of superconducting and normal conducting Magnets for the CERN accelerator complex.
Design and construction of cryostats for magnets, SCRF cryomodules and other accelerator equipments.
Support to operation of the accelerators for magnets, current leads, operation of the magnet and cryostat facilities.
Development of associated technologies, namely superconductors, insulation and polymers, superconducting electrical devices and magnetic measurements for present and future accelerators. |
